All:

I'm a local guy (Northumberland, Brownville Rd) and I have just had the honor of taking care of my buddies Polaris for the winter this year.  He's out in Buffalo, and his sled is in my driveway! 

My question is what does everyone do as preventive maintenance to a sled before it begins to endure the rigors of the winter months in Upsatae NY?  What should be checked, how often, storage, etc.  I've ridden a number of times, but never had to care for the equipment.  If I break it, I buy it, so I want to be sure I'm caring for the machine properly.  Thanks in advance and I look forward to meeting some of you out and about this winter.  Take care and let the SNOW fly!

Hi Derek,

Most important:

- Clean the carbs as ethanol breaks down creating moisture in the carburators if not EFI

-  Grease and lube – there should be 8-10 fittings on the sled.

-  Check the slides on the suspension – there is a warning line on the slides if wear is  beyond line replace the slides. 

- Check the carbides on the skies, very important for proper handling.

- Check your fuel filter

- Join our club and register your sled

Thanks so much for your insight!  That will definitely help me get this sled ready to rumble.  Now that the snow is piling up outside, I better get to it!  10 inches or so at  my house and I live right across the street from the trails!
